Face cards make colorful decorations.

Playing cards, especially decks that have lost a member or two, are possibilities for decorating home items. Image a room screen with hundreds of cards glued to it, some face up and some showing the back. Or a trash can with a special winning hand on it. Or you could decorate a fiber board box with cards for your favorite poker playing relative or friend. Include a couple of new decks and some poker chips in the box for a complete gift.

Other cards can be used in this way as well. Tarot cards or the cards from any game can be used to decorate gift items for people who play cards games. The cards from board games like Monopoly or Sorry. Buying games at garage sales should be a cheap way to acquire materials for these projects.  And if they are not all there, no damage done by using the remainder for other purposes.

These cards are made from cards stock, and those with a plastic coating are stiffer. A good glue will be needed if you are applying them to round object like hat boxes. Use string to hold them in place for a while to encourage the bend needed to make them lay flat.
