I have a box of these, gathered over past years. How can I use them in a craft project?
Well, I thought of painting a wooden box a nice Chinese red, with several coats of paint with sanding and a tack cloth to remove the dust between each coat. Then several coats of a clear finish. Then I would apply the fortunes, somewhat randomly, but well placed. Where they could be read, which is the point. Then a few more coats of clear finish, trying for the appearance of the fortune cookie fortunes floating over the box surface.
Or, same treatment to a tray, with the fortunes in the well of the tray. Then, when not in use, the tray could be leaned against the back splash in the kitchen, providing reading materials for guests in the kitchen.
There is also the possibility of wrapping each fortune around a long bead, either longitudinally or in a spiral. Or around a larger bead. Then you could have a necklace of happy thoughts to brighten a dull day, or a present for a teenager.
One thing, try to remove any remaining cookie crumbs from the paper before you begin. But do not get the fortunes wet: they probably will not survive.
