Many Environmentalists have claimed that the used of cellophane bags is harmful to the earth and that they release harmful chemicals into the land, sea and atmosphere while they are being degraded. This is all well and good, but another set of environmentalists actually claim that using these bags is actually better for the environment than many conventional plastic bags. You can see how these contradicting arguments can be quite confusing and why a lot of people really haven’t got a clue whether they should or shouldn’t be using cellophane bags.

This article is going to settle the matter once and for all and get right down to the bottom of it. If you have absolutely no idea what to believe the following few paragraphs will be very enlightening.

Cellophane bags are produced using polypropylene. This material is created using a mixture of both carbon and hydrogen atoms. This is literally all that goes into producing these bags. Scientists have found that neither hydrogen nor carbon release any harmful chemicals when they are burnt or decomposing, which means that these bags are completely harmless and don’t pose any proven threat to the earth.

That should help ease the confusion, but for some people simply knowing this isn’t enough and they want to know what they can do to help the earth. Whilst it is true that cellophane bags can be bio-degraded quite naturally, many of these do actually need a helping hand to get the process started. If you arrange to have your trash transported to a composting service they can actually ensure it is placed in the right area with enough oxygen and moisture present to actually successfully degrade the material.

So now you know the truth about cellophane bags you can go out and buy some to hold all of your groceries and other items from now on. These bags are quite cheap and come in packs of 10-100 depending on size. If you require big cello bags you can probably purchase a pack of 20 for under $10 which will be able to hold all of the shopping you might do. Smaller bags can be used to wrap small gifts such as jewellery or sweets. Cellophane bags really can be used for all sorts of different purposes and look awesome displayed as gifts on fireplace mantels.
